IBU

International Bitterness Units, a measurement of the concentration of isomerized alpha acids in beer. One IBU equals one milligram of iso-alpha acid per liter of beer. While IBUs quantify bitterness chemically, perceived bitterness is modulated by malt sweetness, pH, and carbonation level.
