Lovibond (SRM)

A scale measuring the color intensity of malt and beer. SRM (Standard Reference Method) replaced degrees Lovibond for beer, but the terms are often used interchangeably for malt color. Pale malt is 1-3 SRM; crystal 60 is 55-65 SRM; black patent can exceed 500 SRM. Beer color depends on malt quantity and SRM.
