Carbonation
Dissolved carbon dioxide in beer, measured in volumes of CO2. Most beers range from 2.0 to 3.0 volumes; British cask ales may be as low as 1.5 volumes, while Belgian ales and German wheat beers can reach 3.5-4.0 volumes. Carbonation affects mouthfeel, aroma release, and perceived bitterness.
