Beer Clarity

The visual transparency of beer, ranging from brilliant (perfectly clear) to hazy or opaque. Clarity depends on yeast flocculation, protein-tannin haze, chill haze, and dry hop haze. Some styles prize clarity (Pilsner, Kolsch); others celebrate haze (Hefeweizen, New England IPA). Fining agents and filtration improve clarity.
