Monastery Brewing

The medieval tradition of brewing within religious communities, particularly Benedictine and Trappist monasteries, which were among the first institutions to brew beer systematically. Monks advanced brewing science, developed recipes, and sold beer to fund their communities. This tradition continues in active Trappist and abbey breweries today.
