Description
A hoppy, moderately-strong, very well-attenuated pale British ale with a dry finish and a hoppy aroma and flavor. Classic English hops in a balanced bitter profile.
Aroma
Moderate to intense English hop aroma with floral, earthy, herbal, or spicy notes. Low to moderate bready malt aroma. Low to moderate fruity esters. Dry and aromatic with classic English hop character.
Appearance
Gold to copper, 6-14 SRM. Clear to brilliant. White to off-white head with good retention.

History
Originally brewed in England for export to British troops in India in the early 19th century. The extra hops acted as a preservative for the long sea voyage. Burton-on-Trent became the center of IPA production. The style declined in England but was revived by American craft brewers, who took it in a bolder direction.
