Descripción

A clean, malt-accented German lager with a restrained hop character. A malty, not hoppy beer that doesn't taste like liquid bread. Well-balanced and refreshing.

Aroma

Moderate grainy-sweet Pilsner malt aroma dominates. Restrained German hop aroma with floral, herbal notes. Very clean lager fermentation. Malt-accented and inviting without being heavy.

Apariencia

Pale to medium gold, 3-5 SRM. Clear to brilliant. White head with moderate to good retention.

Sabor

Dominant soft, grainy-sweet Pilsner malt flavor. Low to moderate herbal or floral hop bitterness. Clean, dry finish. Malt-forward but not cloying. Very drinkable.

Sensación en Boca

Medium body with moderate carbonation. Soft and smooth. No astringency. Very drinkable.

Historia

Created in 1894 by Spaten Brewery in Munich as a response to the Pilsner revolution sweeping Bavaria. Spaten brewer Gabriel Sedlmayr II developed a pale malt lager to compete with Pilsner while maintaining Munich's malty identity. Now epitomizes the Munich pale lager tradition.
