A moderate-strength golden Belgian ale with subtle Belgian yeast character, light spicy phenols, delicate malty sweetness, dry finish, and clean bitterness.
Arôme
Moderate malt aroma with grainy sweetness and light honey-like notes. Low to moderate spicy or floral hop aroma. Subtle spicy phenols and light fruity esters from Belgian yeast. Elegant and soft.
Aspect
Deep yellow to gold, 4-7 SRM. Clear to brilliant. White to off-white head with good retention.
Saveur
Moderate grainy-sweet malt flavor with subtle honey notes. Low to moderate hop bitterness and spicy flavor. Subtle spicy or fruity Belgian yeast. Dry finish. Elegant and balanced.

Histoire
Developed by Belgian Abbey breweries and commercial brewers in the mid-20th century as a response to the popularity of Pilsner lagers. Leffe Blonde and Grimbergen Blonde are well-known examples. The style offered an alternative to light lagers while maintaining Belgian yeast complexity.
