Histoire
A traditional Scottish strong ale, the 'Wee Heavy' name referring to the concentrated serving size of such strong beer in Scotland. The shilling designation (120/-) reflects historical taxation. Traditionally associated with Scottish Trappist-like abbeys and Highland breweries. Belhaven's Wee Heavy and McEwan's Scotch Ale are primary examples. Also produced in the American craft tradition by Founders, Terrapin, and others.
