A malt-focused, generally caramelly beer with perhaps a few esters and occasionally a butterscotch-like aftertaste. Hops are only to moderate bitterness.

Low to moderate caramel and lightly toasty malt aroma. Very low hop aroma. Possible low fruity esters and faint butterscotch. Malt-focused and gentle.

Pale amber to light brown, 10-25 SRM. Clear. Tan to off-white head with moderate retention.

Low to moderate caramel malt sweetness. Very low hop bitterness. Possible slight butterscotch. Low fruity esters. Sweet to semi-dry finish. Malt-focused and understated.

Light to medium-light body with low to moderate carbonation. Smooth and thin. Very easy to drink.

Scotland's lightest and weakest session ale, historically designated by the shilling system (60/-) reflecting historical tax rates. Part of a continuous strength range unique to Scottish brewing. Brewed to be consumed in quantity with minimal intoxicating effect. Historically the everyday Scottish working-class beer.
