Barrel-Equivalent

A standard unit of measurement in the U.S. beer industry equal to 31 U.S. gallons (117.3 liters). Production volume, tax brackets, and craft brewery thresholds are expressed in barrels. A 15-barrel brewhouse produces about 465 gallons per batch. Major craft breweries produce 100,000-500,000 barrels annually.
