Geschichte
Developed in Baltic states and Scandinavia in the 18th-19th centuries as a response to the import of English Porter. Local brewers adapted the Porter style using lager yeast strains, creating a unique cold-fermented dark beer. Zywiec Porter (Poland), Carnegie Porter (Sweden), and Aldaris Porteris (Latvia) are historic examples.
