Beschreibung

An American IPA with intense, tropical, juicy fruit flavors and a soft, smooth, creamy body. The hazy, unfiltered appearance is a signature trait.

Aroma

Intense tropical fruit, citrus, stone fruit, and juicy hop aroma from heavy dry-hopping. Low to medium bready or grainy malt. Low esters from ale fermentation. Hazy and aromatic with no dank or harsh notes.

Aussehen

Pale straw to golden, 3-7 SRM. Hazy to very hazy, opaque. White to off-white head with good retention. Signature haze is a defining characteristic.

Geschmack

Juicy tropical fruit and citrus flavors from heavy dry-hopping. Moderate bitterness, softer than West Coast IPA. Low to medium malt sweetness. Creamy, smooth finish. Soft and lush.

Mundgefühl

Medium to medium-full body with moderate carbonation. Soft, smooth, creamy texture from flocculent yeast and proteins. No harshness. Pillowy and full.

Geschichte

Originated in New England (particularly Vermont and Massachusetts) around 2015-2016, pioneered by The Alchemist (Heady Topper), Treehouse Brewing, and Lawson's Finest Liquids. The hazy, juicy, low-bitterness approach was initially controversial but became the fastest-growing craft beer trend of the late 2010s.
