A pale, complex, effervescent, strong Belgian ale that is highly attenuated and features fruity and hoppy notes in preference to phenolics.

Fruity and complex aroma with peach, pear, apple, and light citrus notes from Belgian yeast. Low to moderate hop aroma, floral or spicy. Light grainy malt. High attenuation gives a clean, effervescent impression.

Pale yellow to gold, 3-6 SRM. Clear to brilliant. Large, dense white head with excellent retention.

История
Created by Duvel Moortgat brewery in Breendonk, Belgium after WWII, inspired by Scottish ale brought by Scottish soldiers. The current recipe and the name 'Duvel' (meaning 'devil' in Flemish dialect) date to the early 1970s. Duvel remains the definitive example, widely imitated for its dangerously drinkable high-alcohol pale character.
