A decidedly hoppy and bitter, moderately strong, pale American ale. Modern versions tend to emphasize late hopping and dry hopping for hop aroma and flavor.

Prominent to intense hop aroma with citrus, tropical fruit, stone fruit, pine, or resinous notes from American varieties. Low to medium-low caramel or toasty malt. Clean fermentation with minimal esters.
